Erasmus
The Erasmus programme supports European cooperation between higher education institutions and mobility. Established in 1987, Erasmus is the most extensive exchange programme for higher education students. Erasmus is part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme LLP 2007 – 2013.
Student exchanges and practical training as well as teacher and staff exchanges within the EU are funded with the aid of this programme.
In order to participate in the Erasmus programme the higher education institution must apply for the Erasmus University Charter granted by the European Commission. The EPS or European Policy Statement is included in the Erasmus University Charter and it details the university’s Erasmus plan that describes how the organisation of mobility and quality management will be arranged. If the University wishes to arrange Erasmus practical training exchanges the EPS should also detail how such training will be organised. An Extended University Charter based this plan can then be granted to the University. An Extended Erasmus University Charter has been granted to Kajaani University of Applied Sciences for the whole duration of the programme.
Erasmus is a sub-programme for institutions of higher education and it is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). The aim of Erasmus is to increase the standard of education and training, increase international co-operation between higher education establishments and to promote the mobility of staff and students. The Erasmus programme is also striving to advance the reciprocal recognition of qualifications and grades within Europe. Erasmus co-operation is based on bilateral agreements between establishments of higher education or between their respective departments.
Nordplus Nordplus is a Nordic student and teacher exchange programme through which students and teachers can spend an exchange period in Nordic partner higher education institutions. The basis of Nordplus cooperation are networks formed between Nordic universities. These networks can apply for operational funding that is then distributed. The School of Health and Sports at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is a member of the EuroNord network that includes educational establishments from Denmark, The Faeroes, Norway, Sweden and Finland. For more information on the Nordplus programme please contact Ms Seija Siivola. NORTH-SOUTH-SOUTH
