Internationality is central to all education provided at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. As our student you will be able to complete part of your studies and practical training abroad. The main principle is that you can study abroad after your first year and you can complete your practical training period after two years of study. If you choose to study or train abroad you may receive a grant and some financial support in the form of a Kajaani UAS award. The opportunities for training and studying abroad are presented in more detail during meetings held every year. In addition to regular student exchanges students studying Business and International Business and Tourism have the opportunity of completing a double degree at Kajaani UAS’s partner university in Germany. In this case students will complete a part of their studies at a Hochschule in Heilbronn and on graduation they will also be awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Germany. Negotiations for further co-operation are currently ongoing with potential partner universities.
It is not necessary to go so far a field to gain international experiences at Kajaani UAS. Every year our schools receive visiting lecturers from our partner universities abroad and you are able to attend those lectures as well. You can volunteer as a 'kummi' student for degree students from abroad. A 'Kummi' ('Godparent')student is a student who helps other foreign students at the beginning of their studies. Or try out a short exchange by participating in our study trips abroad. In addition to our students, our staff can also take part in international teacher or expert exchanges.
