Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is a public utility owned by the Town of Kajaani. 3500 professionals have graduated from Kajaani UAS and are now fully involved in the working world. The University of Applied Sciences is maintained by a Board. Internal self-government is based on UAS legislation. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is one of the top Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences according to the most significant barometers: Kajaani UAS is top in providing expertise, counselling and supervision services and the benefits of practical training. It is also one of the best in terms of the amount of theses commissioned and undertaken in commerce and industry, in graduation time, in the amount of intake with a basic vocational education and in implementing equality between the sexes. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is focussed on the development of co-operation in an innovative environment, on the success of the Joint Authority of the Kainuu Region-Experiment, the development of training and guaranteeing competitiveness.
